Benefits of Membership
There are four main benefits of membership in the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Brevard County:
1. "Before I Go, You Should Know" end-of life planning kit with Living Will and Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare ($10 retail value). Often this guide facilitates the family's discussion of a difficult subject, which then leads to understanding and peace of mind.
2. We have pamphlets on a wide range of funeral-related topics which you may request, at a cost of $1.00 each.We have books which may be purchased at a deep discount.
3. One-stop price-shopping is another member benefit. Our FCA does a funeral price survey of funeral homes in our membership area.
4. Membership is reciprocal anywhere in the U.S. that there is another affiliate, so that if you move or die while traveling, you will have the benefit of funeral information in that area, sometimes including discounted member services.
Are There Other Benefits?
Yes, there are manysome of a direct nature, some that contribute to the
welfare of all citizens.
Through publicity and educational materials, our Alliance acts to increase
consumer awareness about funeral practices and problems. Funeral Consumers Alliance provides information to senior
citizen groups, Agency on Aging advocates, nursing homes and retirement
facilities, schools and colleges, churches and clergy, hospice and hospital
staff, estate planners, fraternal organizations, and labor unions.
We can provide speakers, set up seminars or conferenceswhatever best
suits your interest group. )
Our Funeral Consumers Alliance has a committee that monitors state and federal legislation,
to foster consumer protection in funeral affairs. The Alliance serves as
a resource for those with funeral complaints.
As you can see, your contributions and support ensure that others, including
your survivors, will have a consumer advocate in funeral planning for years
to come.
