The dues of the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western Pennsylvania support the following activities that benefit its members:
Encouragement of thoughtful planning through distribution of a list of cooperating funeral directors who have agreed to provide cremation, simple burial and other services at published prices.
Provision of information for those who wish to donate their bodies or individual organs after death to help the living or to advance medical science.
Promotion of alternatives to conventional funeral arrangements and vehicles for enduring memorials that contribute to the well-being of the living.
Publication of a semi-annual newsletter with material about the activities of our own and other funeral consumer organizations across the nation as well as relevant legislation.
Maintenance of a speakers' bureau that informs local, civic, religious and social organizations about funeral options, practices and planning, and other end-of-life issues.
Advocacy of consumers' rights in dealing with complaints about funeral transactions through our relationship to the Funeral Consumers Alliance, the national umbrella agency.
Provision of opportunities for members to participate in the work of the society through serving on committees and the board of trustees or by making tax-exempt donations from time to time.
