Funeral home insurance agent 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi, My mother in law passed away a month ago today. The funeral home she was dealing with was her agent for her life insurance for her and her son (my husband) come to find out a couple a weeks after her passing on 5/22. We found out that her and her son's policy has been inactive since they started it, which was 11/15/03 and ended 12/15/03. But we haven't missed a payment since the life insurance contract was signed. Not really sure if she received anything in the mail saying that her insurance was dropped or anything, because she lived alone, until she became really ill and moved with us. Also as we were planning everything for her funeral we were not presented with an itemized list of any prices for anyrthing for the funeral, this was a first time experience for us and she had only one son, I feel we was fully taken advantage of, due to know knowledge of anyrhing pertaining to planning a funeral or life insurance policy's. After contacting the funeral home to let them know that we acknowledge that the policy's hadn't been paid, we was presented with a statement that everything will be taken care of (funeral home) and that the policy will be reinstated for my husband from the 5 in a half years that it has been cancelled it will be paid up till this year when I made tje last payment in 3/09 ( life insurance company). I'm really confused and feel that they took total advantage of my mother in law. And I was wondering is a insurance company allowed to reinstate a insurance policy after 5 yrs it hadn't been paid by the agent. I hope all the information is clear. Please help!!!!!
