UPDATE 5/24/06 — Wisconsin Assembly Bill 984, sadly, failed to get out of committee.

2/22/06 — Wisconsin Assembly Bill 984 would give consumers the right to determine how their bodies will be disposed of after death, and the right to name an agent to make sure their wishes are carried out. For more information, go to our Personal Preference Laws page and scroll down to Wisconsin.

10/2005 — Thanks to protests from consumer groups and bad press, a Wisconsin legislator has amended a bill that funeral directors' trade groups were pushing. The bill would have shut out competition from lower-cost funeral homes with a new state law that would ban "strip mall funeral homes." Read all about the undertakers' efforts to circle the hearses.
